The PSOE of Santa Cruz de Tenerife asks the City Council to rethink its plans to definitively locate the Casa de la Juventud de Ofra. Currently, the Corporation intends to install this service in the municipal building of Capuchino Street, in Finca La Multa, which had been used by the neighborhood association until its closure due to legal problems. The municipal proposal is for young people and residents of Finca La Multa to share spaces.
The spokesperson of the municipal socialist group, José Ángel Martín, believes “it is not feasible that the proposed space can be shared between groups of young people and the neighborhood, which have different interests, objectives and activities”. Last week, Martín met the board of directors of the nearby Capuchino association, with which he accepted to reject local government plans.
The district managers have detailed the plans of the City of Martín, which provide that residents can use a basement of the building, sharing it with the Casa de la Juventud. For the socialist mayor, “a basement is not the best space for a neighborhood association to develop its goals.”
