The president of the dean of the press, Lucas Fernández, and the general director of Cultural Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands, Miguel Ángel Clavijo, sign an agreement to preserve and spread this legacy
The centenary archive of DIARIO DE AVISOS, which includes all its archive and photographic collections of incalculable value, will soon be available to all citizens who wish to consult it in the Provincial Historical Archive of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, under the agreement reached between Canaria de Avisos, SA (Canavisa), publisher of the newspaper, and the Directorate General of Cultural Heritage of the Canary Islands Government.
The photographic archive of DIARIO DE AVISOS, composed of more than 50,000 photographs on paper, occupies more than 150 linear meters. Likewise, Canavisa will contribute to the Provincial Archive the totality of its centenarian hemeroteca, whose first specimens date from 1890, year in which the dean of the Canarian press began to be published, in Santa Cruz de La Palma.
