The Cabildo de Tenerife has hosted today (February 7) the presentation of TLP Weekend that will take place in various parts of the island and among which is included Arona, which from May 18 to 20, will offer in the Jesús Domínguez Pavilion " El Grillo "by Los Cristianos a weekend dedicated to new trends and technological learning. Youth Councilor of Arona, Yolanda Mendoza, attended the presentation of an initiative, which will be free and that will offer virtual reality, Arduino technology workshops, programming and construction of robots; a demonstration of First Lego League (FLL), training days, videogame tournaments or stores and competitions, among which the Cosplay and K-pop stand out.
This event is sponsored by TLP Tenerife, the Tenerife area 2030 of the Cabildo, INtech Tenerife and the Asociación Innova7, and has the collaboration of the City Council of Arona. The Councilor for Youth said that "the TLP Weekend is in line with the strategy we have aimed at young people of Arona, which is to promote healthy, inclusive and educational leisure." He also reminded that the entrance to the events and the participation in the activities are free.
The presentation was attended by the councilor of Youth of Arona, Yolanda Mendoza; of the insular councilor of the area Tenerife 2030, Antonio García Marichal; the Councilor for Education and Youth of La Laguna, Atteneri Falero, and the Councilor for Youth of Santiago del Teide, Alejandra Lecuona (two municipalities that will also have TLP Weekend this semester); and the president of Innova 7, Marce Concepción.
Antonio García Marichal said that "the goal is that both young people and families can enjoy an event that brings them new technologies, not only leisure, but also training, where children and young people can access different workshops Precisely that is what we want with the Tenerife 2030 strategy, to have an island more capable and trained to face the challenges of the future. "

On the other hand, Marce Concepcion stressed that TLP Weekend "is designed for the whole family, with workshops and activities in which they can develop skills and know the professions of the future from industry experts, famous youtubers and players. It is committed to innovation and technology, and also to the town halls that facilitate our work, we are talking about a team of about 70 people who are mobilizing for the organization of these events that take place during the weekends ".
Atteneri Falero pointed out that "La Laguna is a university city that has always had education as a priority and this type of events are perfectly framed in our programming, and we will develop it in Pablos Abril de Taco, so we decentralize the activities that are usually they are made in the helmet ".
Finally, Alejandra Lecuona expressed her satisfaction at being able to celebrate the event in Santiago del Teide "so that all people can have access to technology and innovation".
Attendees at TLP Weekend will be able to enjoy the latest trends, such as virtual reality and arduino technological workshops, programming and construction of robots by the INtech Tenerife science and technology park. There will also be a demonstration of First Lego League (FLL), one of the star projects of the Tenerife 2030 area where the little ones not only acquire knowledge, but also form themselves having fun in a different environment.
TLP Weekend offers training sessions, technological workshops, shops and competitions, including Cosplay and K-pop. Those interested in Asian culture can attend for a whole weekend activities that adhere to their tastes, but also know other hobbies. The public also has the opportunity to participate in tournaments of the most popular video games, such as League of Legends, FIFA, Clash Royale or Hearthstone, in which cash prizes are distributed.
Last year TLP Weekend was held in Los Realejos, Los Silos, Granadilla, Güímar and El Sauzal, in which there were more than 46,800 visitors. These events are joined to those held at the end of 2016 in the municipalities of Candelaria and Adeje, which also had a great acceptance with more than 20,000 visits.
