The Youth Council and the Rayuela Association join forces …

The Councilor for Youth and Human Resources of the City of Arona, Yolanda Mendoza, and the president of the Rayuela Association, Jonás González, have recently signed a collaboration agreement to launch two vocational guidance and job placement programs in the municipality that will facilitate access to employment for more than 320 young people in this town. The one-year agreement includes the implementation of direct care offices in the centers with the largest youth population and significantly expands the collaboration already maintained by both institutions, which has meant that more than 25 young people have found a job during 2017

The agreement, which has no financial cost for the City Council, involves the implementation of a program of Professional Guidance for Employment and Self-Employment Assistance (OPEA) for enrolled and enrolled in the National Youth Guarantee System, an initiative funded by the Canary Service of Employment and that will serve about 300 young people of Arona. Likewise, Rayuela will develop its experimental Humboldt V employment program, in which it will train and promote the integration into the labor market of some 20 young people with low education.

"The Association has been executing various actions to improve employability in Arona that are of high interest to the municipality and not only because of their results, with the inclusion of more than 25 young people in 2017, but also because of the commitment they have made to training and direct work with our young people, to know their reality, needs and difficulties. With this data of the exercise that now closes, we have decided to expand and reach more young people, with a forecast for 2018 that exceeds 320, with the clear premise that we have to work together to offer opportunities to those who have it most difficult and contribute to reducing the unemployment rate of our municipality. "

In fact, one of the objectives of both projects is the labor intermediation with companies to directly capture offers of employment, to which is added language training and individualized tutoring to improve aspects linked to training, social skills, etc.

To carry out these actions, the City Council of Arona will transfer three facilities for weekly use. Thus, the workers of these projects will attend the OPEA participants on Mondays, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the El Fraile Civic Center; on Tuesdays, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Civic Center of Cabo Blanco, while on Wednesdays, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., a space will be set up at the Centro Cristianos de Los Cristianos. In this last one, in addition, all the attention will be centralized for the experimental program Humboldt V.
