The mayors of the centers of all the nucleus of Arona will perform next Wednesday, May 30, Canary Islands Day, a new edition of “Añoranzas: entre aguas”, a musical based on the traditions of the municipality and the islands and that this year will have the water as a common thread. This show will take place at 8 pm at the Infanta Leonor Auditorium in Los Cristianos.
“Añoranzas” is a show born in 2016 with the aim of preserving and spreading the different traditions of the Canary Islands, making it in the hands of those who, after having lived closely, are their best transmitters: the elderly, who have in this event, so as a meeting point and a way to relate to each other, a formula of involvement in municipal activities and an active old age.
Organized transversely from different municipal areas, from social services to the elderly, passing through culture or heritage, this show includes months of rehearsals for its protagonists, who memorize texts, dances and songs in a staging that mixes music with traditions and humor, everything from the hand of José Ángel Pérez Fumero as a director.
If in the first edition, “Añoranos” revolved around the figure of the lamp, in his second year he did it around the “crafts of memory”, such as tomato plants, fishermen or marchantas. In this third edition the main theme will be water, with scenes such as the transport in the pitchers, the washing places as a meeting point or the construction of the first channels.
